Hawaii Improves Vital Records Online Ordering System
HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Health (DOH) launched an improved vital records ordering and tracking system for birth, and marriage/civil union certificates. This improved service (vitrec.ehawaii.gov) offers online ordering with credit card payments, tracking of orders in real time, and the option to receive your order by mail or pick-up.
“The Hawaii Department of Health issues nearly 300,000 certified copies of birth, death, and marriage records each year, and now, all requests will be processed in a single system to better manage orders and to identify ways to continuously improve service,” said Alvin T. Onaka, Ph.D., State Registrar and Chief of the Office of Health Status Monitoring.
The public is encouraged to submit all orders online and securely pay with a credit/debit card. An email order confirmation will be sent to include tracking information that can be used to track online order status in real time. Prepaid pick-up orders are available at the DOH Punchbowl location on Oahu during business hours.

Vital records (birth, death, civil union, marriage, and divorce certificates) for events that occurred in Hawaii are received and preserved by the Office of Health Status Monitoring, a unit of the Department of Health. In Hawaii, access to vital records is restricted by statute (HRS §338-18).
